Any song can be played at open string, beginner level. Once comfortable, extend it to higher skills using slides and other techniques of connection and continuity.

Slides, hammer ons and pull off are the only three tools I use to play even seemingly complex music. Knowing the underlying skills and tools, focusing on mastering them is a more worthwhile investment of your time and energy than just focusing on the notes.

We will help you make the variations.

Which song should I choose?

As mentioned, you DON’T have to choose a song that matches your skill. Any song, variations can are made. Challenging but not overwhelming

Even parts of the same song, that are tougher for your skill, can be reduced in detail and complexity when you attempt it first. When repeating, over iterations, add embellishments and complexity.

Arrange the learning to your advantage

For example, when playing the Ilayanila song:

First learn to play the two vocal parts,

Then the end lead part

The interludes require a higher skill level, which can be kept for later. Instead if the student tries to play the interlude after the first vocal part they will get stuck and the project will not move forward.

Staying in that border area of skill – just challenging but not too hard – is the secret to effective progress, instead of wasting time and energy on what you can already or getting frustrated trying something too hard. We will guide you to create a custom learner path that matches your skills and goals, progressing at the right pace to more complex levels.
