Beyond Striking Notes
Guitar players try to learn Indian music by collecting songs, notes, tabs, and lessons. Youtube whirlpools, disconnected note sounds... frustration.
Many resources present this as the “how to,” but often it is only the basic what.
The real questions start with:
How do we connect the notes?
How do we make the line sound connected?
What is phrasing?
What does finger logic have to do with expression?
A Carnatic phrase needs more than notes. Swaras are not just notes. Ragas are not just scales. We need gamaka handling, movement, sustain, and timing.
A film song needs the feedback loop that turns notes into music: phrasing, emotion, rhythm, and the ability to make the line sing on guitar.
A rhythm player needs chords, strumming control, and groove. More than anything, they need to know how the downbeats match the lyrics.
A chord player needs more than chord names. They need the exact finger movements for smooth transitions.
A fingerstyle player needs independence between melody, bass, and rhythm, while training the fingers to find the correct strings.
Ear training connects all this. It improves through trial, error, and conscious correction.
Our teaching is not just “learn these notes.”
We look at note level, phrase level, rhythm level, feedback loop, phrasing, and finger logic — and connect them.
In this workshop, we work on Carnatic, film songs, rhythm, chords, fingerstyle, singing while playing, ear training, and similar topics, using the same correction-based method I use in 1:1 classes.
The aim is to connect your goal to your current skills, see what is missing, know exactly what to practise next, and make your guitar playing sound the way it is meant to sound.
