Similarly, random interval ear training feels alien to me, even though I can identify notes and intervals on the guitar, for songs, chords etc…
For Indian music on guitar, I suggest ear training closer to the final music we are trying to figure out and play.

The below exercise tells you the set of notes that will appear in the exercise. You just have to figure out which ones are omitted. This is much less overwhelming and closer to real life applications leading to results we want.
